We’re still at war with Iraq. June was the deadliest month for US troops in two years. Not to mention we have completely FUCKED their country and for what gain?? Certainly not theirs.
We are still at war with Afghanistan. He can declare a withdraw all he wants - we ain’t goin’ nowhere, it’s too profitable. Makes a good campaign soundbite though.
Let’s see, we started war with Egypt, Libya and are getting ready for Pakistan. We support Israel in their oppression of Palestine and we continue to FUCK our Mexican neighbors for the max amount of profits and politician gain.
Bin Laden was/is not Al Queda. Believe it or not, it’s impossible to defeat “terrorism”. Like comedian David cross said, declaring war on terrorism makes about as much sense as declaring war on jealously. Bin Laden was a US ally for decades. Bin Laden has never been proven to be anything but a darling, media-hyped boogeyman. His “death” was symbolic and politically strategic.
Promises kept? Pfft. Nobody 2012.
Afghan War - Not sure how this is profitable. Afghanistan holds no major oil reserves. So unless we’re there for the poppy/opium I don’t see the connection to profit. In fact, this is costing the US money, billions per month, and having a negative impact on the economy both short term and long term. We will soon have an influx of veterans entering into the already tight job market. These wars are not profitable to the US as the World Wars were. Back then the wars spawned new jobs, innovation, and with the Baby Boom a whole new generation of consumers.
Egypt - Um, did I miss this one? As far as I recall the people of Egypt started their own revolution. In fact, the US supported Mubarak initially as an ally. We did not intervene in the Egyptian revolution. No troops were sent in, no airstrikes or drones were used. The US then backed off Mubarak and supported the fight for democracy. The only involvement I recall are a few dipshit reporters getting their ass kicked. Shouldn’t have been their in the first place.
Mexico - Since this post has to do with sanctioned military use, not sure how Mexico is involved. Are we “fucking” them because we have not deployed troops to help control the cartels that the Mexican government can’t control on their own? Are we “fucking” them because we don’t have an open door policy for immigrants?
gotta say… the tactic in Afghanistan has been to replace troops with bombs. Drone strikes have multiplied and there are...
